Montessori Center School (MCS) has a rare opening in its Lower Elementary program for a full-time head teacher. Must have MACTE accredited AMS or AMI Elementary I (6-9) Credential as well as a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Will consider candidates with classroom experience who are currently taking their Montessori training. A minimum of three years’ experience as a head teacher is preferred. This is a full-time (academic year) position that is eligible for benefits.
MCS is an independent, non-profit school in its 56th year of operation with approximately 220 students ranging in age from 18 months to 6th grade. The school is located on the Central Coast of California, in the beautiful community of Goleta, adjacent to Santa Barbara.

Montessori Center School is seeking an assistant teacher to help launch its lower elementary Spanish immersion program in the 2024-2025 school year. Our classrooms are home to 22 to 24 students. This classroom will follow a 90/10 (Spanish/English) immersion model.
Job Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a love of working with children and strong classroom management skills with an ability to read, write, and speak fluently in Spanish and English. A bachelor’s degree is required (related field preferred). Criminal background clearance and TB tests are required. Montessori experience and teaching credentials are desirable.
The Montessori assistant teacher is an integral member of the classroom teaching team, ensuring that the program goals specified by the Head Teacher are implemented. The assistant teacher is directed and supervised by the Head Teacher, who is responsible for the overall classroom program and design. The assistant teacher is expected to learn and practice all aspects of the Montessori philosophy.
The assistant teacher assists in preparing and maintaining the classroom, supervising the children, checking students' work, and ensuring the daily routines of the classroom are met. Specific responsibilities of the assistant teacher may include accompanying groups of children to specialist classes on campus or overnight camping trips, supervising the playground, helping students complete academic work, monitoring, and modeling Montessori manners (grace and courtesy), laminating materials, cleaning shelves and materials, preparing snacks, maintaining supply shelves, gardening, and assisting with other projects as assigned by the Head Teacher.

About the Opportunity

Compensation
